Exeter’s food and drink scene has recently welcomed Hubbox to Sidwell Street, and their concept is simple… burgers, hotdogs and beer! So if you like your burgers and dogs to be mouth watering, locally sourced and full of flavour, then this pop up food destination has your name on it.
The restaurant is urban and quirky, a really unique venue with the kitchen being in a fully customised shipping container slap bang in the middle of the restaurant. The menu includes a range of home-made burgers, beef brisket cooked for 12 hours, pulled pork sandwiches and gourmet hot dogs, as well as plenty of delicious vegetarian options. Although it is US inspired, it is great to see that they strive to use the very best produce from across the South West.
You can’t book a table which means at busy times you might have to wait for a table, but the waiting team were really pleasant, always have a smile on their faces, and busy offering you drinks while you wait. The menu is kept relatively simple, full of delicious choices, including a Slider Tray if you can’t decide on one burger or dog then you get a small taster of everything! Prices are really reasonable too with a Hot Chick burger only setting you back £6.95, a steal for such great taste and generous portion sizes!
The atmosphere in Hub Box is really great, quirky as it is supposed to be; and you can really tell that it isn’t a chain restaurant, which I tend to try and avoid!
